What They Say
Counterpoint Research released its global PC data for Q2 and saw growth of 15.1% year on year to 80.1 million. For the year, the firm expects double digit growth, but with continued component shortages and a slowdown in Chromebook sales.
Lenovo stayed the top vendor with 25% share and is likely to continue to outperform the market. HP did well in enterprise segments although it saw decelerating Chromebook shipments. Apple reached 6 million shipments and the firm said that 90% of Macs now use M1 chips.
Counterpoint also reported on the MEA and European smartphone markets with MEA hitting a new record, while Europe continues to recover.
What We Think
I continue to hear only good things about the performance of the M1 chip. Counterpoint pointed out that it also helps Apple’s profit margin (which wasn’t shabby beforehand!) (BR)
