TCL has shown a new smartphone concept that combines foldability and rollability. The condensed version has a 6.87″ that unfolds (it’s outfolding) to 8.85″ – already quite large. However one side can then be unrolled to extend the size to 10″.
What We Think
This is just a prototype. I love the idea, but I’m dubious about outfolding devices and rolling significantly adds to the complexity and potential reliability issues of foldable devices, so I’m not confident it will actually makie it into production. Still, it’s good to see such creativity. (BR)
