Gizmo China has reported that Sony is looking to update its DPT-CP1 ‘Digital Paper’ product (New Size of Sony “Digital Paper” Released). The new version has a colour display using E Ink’s new Kaleido Plus technology (which E Ink has just press released). The new technology is faster to display and has better tracking of the pen input and is said to use a new Wacom pen system.
The Sony Digital Paper is powered by a Cortex A53 Quad-core 1.8 GHZ processor. The device comes with 32GB of internal storage, a USB-C port, and Bluetooth 5.0. It runs Android 9.0 Pie.
The product is expected to be released first in Japan and pricing is still TBA.
What We Think
E Ink said it would have 7.8″ displays and had support from Pocketbook and Onyx Boox in its release for that size, but the Sony device is said to still be 10.3″. E Ink said its new technology has an new Color Filter Array and a faster, brighter ink layer. (BR)
