Samsung TV Plus Expands to 12 Countries With Over 740 Channels Worldwide

What They S

Samsung announced that it is extending its TV Plus service to now reach 12 countries and has 742 channels available. The firm said that over 60 million of its SmartTVs will be able to access the content.

Recent platform expansions have brought the total market presence to 12, with new additions that include Australia and Brazil; existing markets include the U.S., Canada, U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland and Korea.

In 2021, Samsung said it will continue to expand TV Plus to other markets, with plans to launch in Mexico, India, Sweden and more European countries. Samsung Galaxy device users can also expect added functionality and additional devices to become available in the coming months.

What We Think

This could be a compelling sales argument for Samsung in the entry level and mainstream markets. Premium consumers are likely to want PayTV and SVoD, but where consumers rely on FTA broadcast, the addition of the service may be an attractive extra feature. Of course, that will depend on good broadband connectivity! (BR)
