Leading monitor supplier, Dell, published strong results for Q3 of its fiscal 2021 with revenues up 3% to $23.5 billion overall and with ‘client solutions’ of $12.3 billion, up 8%. Client solutions generated $1 billion of operating revenue out of a total of $1.1 billion. Consumer revenue was $3.5 billion, up 14%, while commercial client revenue was $8.8 billion, up 5%. Dell said that it had strong performance with double-digit revenue growth in Latitude and Precision notebooks and triple-digit revenue growth in commercial chromebooks. There was also strength in the XPS premium line and gaming systems including Alienware, with strong double-digit revenue growth for both notebooks and desktops.
What We Think
The lockdown has had a positive effect on the major PC vendors. Dell didn’t break out monitor numbers but the firm has been #1 for monitors for some years and I’d be very surprised if that had changed. As you can see from the chart below, long term Dell stock holders must be very happy. (BR)
