Oppo Updates OLED AR glasses prototypes

What They Say

As well as a prototype rollable smartphone, (Oppo’s X 2021 rollable concept phone expands in your hand), Oppo showed an update to prototype glasses shown last year. The Oppo AR Glass 21 uses ‘birdbath optics’ and is said to be 75% ligther than last year’s version. The glasses use a 0.71″ OLED (rumoured by some to be from BOE). The field of view is said to be the equivalent of a 90″ display at 3m. There are binocular fisheye cams that can be used to track the hands, when paired with the ToF camera.

A developer programme is expected next year.

What We Think

These look quite light and seem to be designed to accompany a smartphone, which seems to be a good way of keeping the weight down. (BR)
