Dimenco, leading in light field display technology, introduced the concept of Simulated Reality (SR) technology one year ago. The global launch of its Simulated Reality Development kit comes full circle at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
This 32” 8K SR Devkit is the ultimate spatial desktop machine available for all creators. As shipment started last November, the developer, designer and engineering market prove to be among the first to adopt the technology.
Commitment to creative innovation is never over
The creator market has always been on the forefront of incorporating the latest innovations. After decades of creating 3D designs on 2D monitors it no longer makes sense. As display technology has immensely evolved, it can now clearly show to the user dimensions and all critical details of their 3D models that regular 2D displays just can’t capture. At any angle in a fully natural way without the need of any headwear or wearables. Which is an incredible benefit.
The display comes with a software development kit (SDK) that supports the top game engines in the market today. Developers can seamlessly create SR applications using the Unreal engine and the specially developed Unity Editor. Plus, it enables developers to easily port their existing 3D content.
In collaboration with Microsoft and Ultraleap
Dimenco is collaborating with Microsoft, who will feature the new immersive spatial display at their CES Experience Center and has partnered with Ultraleap and certified their Leapmotion sensor for embedded SR hand tracking. Also from Ultraleap, is mid-air haptic feedback as an add-on. The Dimenco/Ultraleap partnership produces wearable-free, 3D graphics that users can interact with and feel with their bare hands, creating a new form of interaction with digital media.
Steve Cliffe, CEO at Ultraleap spoke of the partnership: “Adding the sense of touch to digital content makes it come to life. Experiences are much more immersive and engaging. We are therefore very excited to partner with Dimenco on the SR devkit to create the most natural interactive platform from which developers can create immersive and magical content.”
The SR Devkit is just the first step. Ultimately, with Dimenco’s proprietary spatial technology, makers of monitors, laptops, tablets, phones and other devices can incorporate SR visualization capability into their product lines and the first consumer products are expected in early 2021. Laptop manufacturer MSI will demonstrate a glimpse into of the future with the first “Simulated Reality” laptop which presents fully immersive 3D objects that can be interacted with naturally in a virtual environment, without wearables, ready to be utilized in multiple industries such as design, architecture and medical. SR’s unique multi-sensory combination represents the first steps towards the future of human computer interaction.
Maarten Tobias, CEO of Dimenco, said: “While the market for immersive content is growing around the world, wearable headsets, glasses and controllers needed for virtual and augmented reality don’t provide the optimal and most natural experience which is hindering growth and adoption. We are dedicated to creating the interactive platform of the future – Our vision is Simulated Reality. Realism, social interactivity, immersion and AI can all be achieved through SR experiences, and we are enabling developers to start creating for SR now with our devkit.”
During CES Dimenco will showcase its newly developed Unity Editor and the SR Model Viewer which demonstrate compatibility with existing off-the-shelve 3D tools. Dimenco is working with select software companies to expand the SR ecosystem and has several significant updates scheduled for 2020.

About Ultraleap
Ultraleap is the world’s leading mid-air haptics company. The company has developed a unique technology that enables users to receive tactile feedback without needing to wear or touch anything. The technology uses ultrasound to project sensations through the air and directly onto the user’s hands, enabling users to ‘feel’ virtual buttons, get tactile feedback for mid-air gestures, or interact with virtual objects.
