Acer was among the companies that confirmed that its Predator Orion PCs for gamers would support the new Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics cards.

The Orion 5000 is designed for the serious gamer, while the Orion 3000 is aimed at users entering the world of serious gaming, and the Orion 9000, with top-of-the-line Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GPUs and up to 18-core CPUs is aimed at the most demanding users.

Distec GmbH has released a new 46″ video wall monitor that has a FullHD panel with 700 cd/m² of output and 3.5ms bezels (5.2mm between images) with support for up to 25 displays. The display can support UHD images via HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.4 over a 2 x 2 array, with no loss.

We missed it at the time, but Eizo launched the FlexScan EV2430 1920 x 1200 IPS monitor with 1,000:1 contrast and output of 300 cd/m² (although it can be adjusted down to 1 cd/m² for use in dark environments). The stand has 131mm of vertical adjustment and can be viewed in portait mode. There are VGA, DVI and DisplayPort inputs and dual 1W speakers with a stereo and headphone jack.

IHSE has a new KVM system that can allow two users to operate up to eight computers in parallel using their own screens and keyboard and mouse sets. Switching can be done using the mouse (by moving the cursor to a different display) or with a keyboard. We have reported before that IHSE is a licensee of the Lici light compression technology from the Fraunhofer.

Intel has added four new units to its NUC line of compact PC kits based on 8th Generation Core i3, i5 and i7 processors and with Intel Iris graphics, the NUC8i7BEH, NUC8i5BEH, NUC8i5BEK, NUC8i3BEH, NUC8i3BEK, formerly code-named Bean Canyon and allowing a choice of memory, storage and operating system. It has also added the NUC8i3CYSM, NUC8i3CYSN Windows PCs, formerly code-named Crimson Canyon, which are designed for game play and are supplied with 1TB of storage, 4GB or 8GB of storage and Windows 10 and with Radeon discrete graphics and support for dual monitors. The kits include Intel’s Wireless-AC 9560 CNVi 802.11ac WiFi + Bluetooth 5 solution, two HDMI 2.0a outputs, and four USB 3.0 ports.

LG has a new Multi-touch Arm TV for healthcare applications and designed to be used on a VESA-compatible arm. The TV uses a 15.6″ IPS panel and is designed to be durable and easy to clean.

At Gamescom in Cologne, Samsung previewed two new curved (1800R) gaming monitors in the CJG5 range, with 27″ and 32″ diagonals and 2560 x 1440 resolution and 144Hz refresh. Output is 300 cd/m² and contrast is 3,000:1. Response is quoted at 4ms (GtG). There are dual HDMI inputs and a DisplayPort connection. The monitors will start shipping in Q3.

TPVision will have a new OLED903 TV at the forthcoming IFA show. The TV will feature UltraHD resolution, HDR (HDR, HDR10+ and HLG, but no Dolby Vision), 3-sided Ambilight and will run the Android TV SmartTV environment and has the P5 video processor. It features a Bowers & Wilkins soundbar, as part of a partnership between the companies. two remotes are supplied including a small and simple ‘stick’ remote control.

The OLED903 will be available in 55″ and 65″ with pricing to still be announced.

Tru-Vu Monitors of the US has a new SXOBH-43-XTR sunlight-readable monitor that has a 43″ FullHD optically-bonded IPS panel with 2,500 cd/m² of output, 1,300:1 contrast, and is rated to IP68 for outdoor use and has no fans, filters or vents. The display is fitted with a 5mm anti-reflective safety glass, rated to IK10. Power consumption is 230W. Inputs include VGA, triple HDMI and analogue video as well as DisplayPort. Warranty is two years. Features include 5V and 12V outputs.

Tru-Vu’s SXOBH 43 XTR monitor is approved to IP68
