Sony has announced that PlayStation VR has sold 3 million units globally since its launch in October 2016. The company believes that this outpaces products including Oculus Rift and HTC Vive by around a million units combined, though PSVR was released over six months later than both.
Sony also revealed a list of the top-ten best-selling VR-capable games for the system. The most popular title is currently Bethesda role-playing game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR, which first released back in 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. It was given a new lease of life in 2016 with a remaster for current-generation consoles and again in 2017 with versions for PSVR, Windows-based VR devices and Nintendo Switch.
Sony also revealed that 21.9 million PlayStation VR titles have been sold, an average of 7.3 experiences per headset. The company says that there are currently 340 PSVR titles available.
