In Australia, Samsung has teamed up with residential aged care community Uniting, providing patients with its Gear VR technology. While wearing the headset, residents are able to step into 360° videos captured in their birthplaces or favourite holiday destinations, while some have even been able to journey into outer space.

g to the CTA, Nick Brennan, associate Professor of the Uniting War Memorial Hospital in New South Wales, Australia, commented:
“Studies suggest that virtual reality can have a therapeutic effect and stimulate the brain. Providing new adventures for these patients can help to reduce stress and boredom and creates new ways for them to interact with their peers”.
