Epson America has released a new Power Pilot 3 Projector Connection and Control Box which provides consolidated cable management and three HDMI buttons (one with MHL). The inputs can be displayed side-by-side on suitable projectors. Other features include buttons for power, A/V mute, volume and source selection.
The product will be available in October 2018 for $199.
LG has started shipping its lowest priced 2018 TV in the US. The OLEDB8 will cost $2,099 with a 55″ diagonal and the 65″ will cost $2,999.
NEC America has launched the MultiSync PA271Q, a wide gamut monitor that is a replacement for the PA272W and was shown at ISE (NEC Determined to Stay in Monitors). It has a 2560 x 1440 IPS panel with 1500:1 contrast, 350 cd/m² output and 8ms response time.
It features true 10-bit color with a 14-bit 3D LUT and supports sRGB (100%) and Adobe RGB (98.5%). The model also includes the SpectraViewI Engine, NEC’s custom colour processor, and an always-on backlight sensor for stable color and brightness for the life of the display and a low-latency mode when working with live video. In addition, Picture in Picture, Picture by Picture and ICC profile support are intended to simplify color-critical workflows. The monitor has an integrated KVM to allow three PCs with a single keyboard and mouse.
The unit is available in June 2018, at a minimum advertised price of $1,299 and in a SpectraView bundle for $1,549.
Panasonic in Europe is planning to make the PT-RZ870 DLP projector that it showed at ISE (Panasonic Shows New Projectors, LCDs at ISE) available in July 2018. The 8,500 lumen laser phosphor unit supports 1920 x 1200 resolution with contrast of 10,000:1 and features include HDBaseT, vertical and horizontal shift and a range of optional lenses. The new projector uses the housing previously used for the PT-RZ770.
The IF Design Award has revealed the existence of a new design concept from TP Vision (the licensee of the Philips brand in Europe) that has ‘sound sticks’ on the side of the frame that are attached by magnetism and a woofer in the base.
The AVCesar.com blog in France said that TP Vision had confirmed that the design is just a concept at the moment.
Best Buy in the US has started to sell Toshiba TVs in the US that use the Amazon Fire TV platform as the main user interface. Pricing is $329 for the 43″, $399 for the 50″ and $479 for the 55″. Features include Amazon’s Alexa as a voice-based user interface. The panels are reported to be direct addressed (without local dimming) and Best Buy is expected to launch Fire TVs under its Insignia brand.
Vivitek in Europe has announced the the LauncherOne, the LauncherPlus USB-C Edition dongles and the LauncherPlus Base holder which are designed to enable the wireless connection of USB devices to meeting room displays and are part of the NovoConnect range. The dongles use Wi-fiDirect and do not need to connect to local networks.
