Vaio to Screen Movies in VR at Tokyo Theatre From Next Month

Vaio, best known as the brand face of Sony’s previous PC business, has announced that it will begin screening movies in virtual reality at a theatre in Tokyo, Japan from July 2nd, in partnership with Toei Company. The Wald 9 theatre, situated in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district, will begin by showing two short manga films, with tickets priced at ¥1,500 (about $13.60).

Vaio was previously a subsidiary of Sony until 2014, when the company sold it to Japan Industrial Partners following a period of poor Vaio PC sales. Sony still owns a 5% stake in Vaio, as well as copyright trademarks for the brand and its logo.
