New Technology Enables 360° Video Capture from a Single Photograph

At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, which took place earlier this month, VR studio DVMobile demonstrated its new technology, VolumeCapture, which facilitates the capture of 2D and 3D models from real-time scene data with static photographs, creating material that can be used in 360° video and VR/AR experiences, as well as conventional movies.

The company created its “Horrifically Real Virtual Reality” tech demo and took it to Cannes, showing attendees how these captures take place. You can see for yourself in this video that the company posted on Vimeo.

DVMobile is the team behind Alice, the 20-minute VR experience seen at last year’s Cannes festival, which went on to be named one of the most enjoyed immersive experiences ever made.
