Lenovo Mirage Solo Won’t Come with 6DoF Controllers

Google’s Clay Bavor has revealed that Lenovo’s new Mirage Solo headset, which features 6DoF tracking, won’t use next-generation 6DoF controllers, unlike Oculus Santa Cruz.

According to Bavor, the decision was made because the team didn’t feel 6DoF controllers were necessary for the Mirage Solo. He also suggested that future input methods devised by Google wouldn’t be limited to physical controllers, but would involve tracking parts of the body, including the hands and eyes.

As well as 6DoF tracking, Mirage Solo also features two 5.5″ 1440p LCD displays, with a 75Hz refresh rate and 110° field of view. It runs on Google’s Daydream 2.0 platform, powered by a Snapdragon 835 VR processor, with 4GB RAM and 64GB UFS storage, expandable with a microSD card up to an additional 256GB.
