Qualcomm Inc reported its financial results for the second quarter ended March 25, 2018. Revenues for the second quarter 2018 were $5.3 billion, an increase of 5%, compared to $5.0 billion in Q2 2018. Qualcomm didn’t record any QTL (Qualcomm Technology Licensing) revenues in the first and second quarter of fiscal 2018 for royalties that were due on sales of Apple’s or another licensee’s products. Net loss for Q2 2018 was $0.4 billion, compared to net income of $0.7 billion reported in Q2 2017.
The QCT segment (Qualcomm CDMA Technologies) has performed better in quarter second of 2018 and revenues were $3,897 million, an increase of 6%, compared to $3,676 million in Q2 2017. On the other hand, the QTL segment (Qualcomm Technology Licensing) saw steep downfall in second quarter 2018 and revenues decline from $2,249 million to $1,260 million, a decrease of 44% on year over year basis. The reason for the drop in revenues is the dispute with Apple and its contract manufacturers, as well as the previously disclosed dispute with another licensee.
