Vizio has announced its 2018 range of TVs, all based on LCD. The P Series is a SmartTV range with a ‘bezelless’ design and supports Dolby Vision with 1,000 cd/m² with sizes of 55″, 65″ and 75″ at $899, $1,299 and $2,499, respectively. The TVs have ‘up to’ 120 direct lighting zones and 240Hz ‘effective’ refresh rate with backlight scanning.
There is a Quantum version of the P Series where QD film is being used for wider colour gamut, 192 zones are controlled and peak brightness is 2,000 cd/m². The 65″ unit will cost $2,200 – just below LG’s 55″ OLEDs.
Smart features are supported in 2018 SmartCast OS and an app can be downloaded to all a mobile device to be used as a remote. The new OS supports Google and Amazon Alexa for voice control.
The M Series have up to 48 local dimming zones and up to 600 cd/m² brightness. HLG and HDR10 HDR are supported. The refresh rate is ‘effectively’ 120Hz. Again there is support Alexa and Google Assistant. The 55″ is $699, 65″ is $999 and 70″ is $1,499.
The D & E series also support HLG & HDR10 but the number of zones drops to 10.
