We don’t often report on fridges, but we noted that ShelfX said that it has processed more than four million transactions in its system which allows customers to open the fridge using a credit card and help themselves. The system also now supports the Venmo app which allows prepayment. If there is $10 in the Venmo account, the fridge will open. The system allows consumers to pick up and put back items if they want and provides a wide range of analytics to help owners to understand the patterns and how consumers are reacting to products.
At the moment self service ShelfX fridges do not use displays in their doors.
