Virtual vacation technology is being developed by Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) Holdings, using virtual reality, robotics and haptic feedback technology to recreate the feel and physical sensations of being on holiday and taking part in real-life recreational activities.
ANA is working with SoftBank Group, the University of Tokyo and Oita Prefecture on the project, with a final product projected for launch during 2019. A demonstration is planned to take place at Haneda Airport in Tokyo as early as this summer.
