The Mercedes Maybach S-Class uses a million TI DLP micromirrors in each of its headlights to create very accurately defined light beams from the LEDs. The headlamps can also be used to signal to the driver and others with graphics being projected onto the road surface. Symbols are:

- Rear-end collision
- Lane-keeping
- Blind-spot
- Speed
In the current E Class, a four LED, 8,192 pixel system is used to create areas of 2.4 x 1.8 metres at 100 metres in front of the vehicle can be created. With the new system, these areas go down to 4 x 2.5cm. The beam can also be adjusted by ±10º.
The image is computed from input via a stereo camera and so the system can ensure that individuals or vehicle drivers are not dazzled by the headlights. The system also reduces the light projected onto reflective signs to balance them better to the environment.
