The BBC has launched an augmented reality companion app for its series Civilisations, which airs in the spring. The app will enable users to explore a museum full of historical artefacts, including an Egyptian mummy from the Torquay Museum, Rodin’s The Kiss from the National Museum of Wales, and the Umbrian Madonna and Child from the National Museum of Scotland.
The app was developed internally by the BBC’s London-based research and development team. It will be available for both iOS and Android devices.
