Amazon.com is currently applying discounts of up to 50% on Windows Mixed Reality headsets.
Acer’s offering has been slashed from $399 to $218.99, while consumers can now pick up a Lenovo Explorer with controllers for $245.99, down from $399. The HP Windows headset, which usually retails at $449, is now available for $239, while the Dell Visor is $219.95, down from $449.
Samsung’s Odyssey headset is the only Windows Mixed Reality device not included in the sale. The platform launched in October and has a higher resolution display – the same as the new HTC Vive Pro.
Analyst Comment
This is not a good sign for the future of this category. Clearly, costs haven’t come down such a long way in such a short time, so it does suggest that demand is nowhere near the level needed or desired. (BR)
