BenQ has a new UltraHD DLP projector, the W1700 (HT2550 in the US) that uses a proprietary low dispersion lens that improves quality as well as “CinematicColor” which means that the projector has an RGBRGB colour wheel to allow support for Rec. 709 (96%). The DLP chip is a 0.47″ version.
The brightness is 2,200 ANSI lumens with 10,000:1 contrast and with a 1.47 to 1.76:1 throw ratio (1.2:1 zoom) rated for projection images from 60″ to 200″/300″. Inputs are dual HDMI (2.0 and 1.4a) as well as VGA and USB. The lamp-based unit has a single 5W speaker.
The unit will sell for €1,799 including tax, from January. ($1,779 + tax)
