CNBC reports that American burger chain Shake Shack will open its first cashless outlet in New York City later this month.
Set to open on New York’s Astor Street, the new store won’t have a conventional order counter. Instead, customers can place and pay for their orders via their mobile phones, or using digital kiosks situated inside the building.
Orders will then be sent electronically to a newly redesigned kitchen. Customers will receive a text message when their order is ready to collect, allowing them to temporarily leave the store while their food is being prepared.
