Lightntec Adds Colour to Film LEDs

Sixteen:Nine.net had a podcast with Florian Kall of LightnTec, a self-funded start-up out in Karlsruhe, Germany and the podcast looks at some of the challenges of LED walls and how the company has a transparent film-based RGB LED with full motion video. The company puts cables into PET or PEN films that can drive the LEDs. The display can be transparent or opaque. Some of the applications are temporary to allow the testing of concepts. Otherwise, the display can be used on different walls or on different premises. The product will be available in early 2018 and can be run up to 5,000 cd/m² of output. Nichia LEDs are used and the pitch range is from 50mm (used behind a diffuser to give ‘mood’ effects) to 37.5mm, but in the future lower pitch is possible,

Often the company can use an existing banner lifter or holder to hold the film, meaning easy implementation.

Analyst Comment

The contrast was made in the podcast with a 40mm pitch and using just white LEDs. (BR)
