Video on-demand and pay TV services in German-speaking locations earned record-high revenue in 2016, according to figures released by broadcast association VPRT.
VOD and Pay TV in Germany, Austria and German-language areas in Switzerland earned €2.5 billion in 2015, and rose 11% last year to over €3 billion.
VPRT expects a further increase of 10-12% in 2017, to €3.4 billion. Consumers of on-demand and pay TV services increased by 2.7 million in the first half of 2017.
