CES Celebrates Fifty Years

The picture shows the very first CES held in New York from June 25th to 28th 1967. There were 117 exhibitors and 17,500 attendees. Fifty years later, CES 2017 had over 4000 exhibitors and 180,000 attendees in January in Las Vegas. Since 1967, the event has showcased around 700,000 products. The first show included transistor radios, stereos and small black-and-white TVs, including the first solid state TV.

Analyst Comment

That means I have attended 36% of all the CES shows, as I went the first time in 2000, as the Comdex show started to fade, but before CES killed Comdex, in the same way that IFA hit (but didn’t kill) CeBIT when big brands decided to attend only one show and chose the CE-based events rather than the IT-centric ones.
