At Infocomm, Sony told us about its 100″ HDR Bravia Professional Display, but somehow didn’t tell us about the full range of nine new displays. The XE8 and XE9 series displays both support UltraHD resolution and the XE9 series is the first Bravia range to support 24/7 operation. The XE8 range has five models – 75″, 65″, 55″, 49″ and 43″ with edge lighting while the XE9 has hour models in 75″, 65″, 55″ and 49″ and with direct backlighting. There are DVB T/T2 and DVB-C tuners and the sets include the 4K HDR Processor X1 with Object-based HDR remaster and Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR technology.
Brightness is 560-650 cd/m² for the XE9 range, in comparison to 400-450 cd/m² for the previous XD8 models (although Sony’s web specifications don’t detail the brightness).
All displays can be used in both portrait and landscape as standard, and can also be transformed into interactive touchscreens by using an optional overlay. There is support for Android and Google Cast in all of the sets.
