Samsung announced new CHG90 and CHG70 curved quantum dot LCD monitors for gamers and all supporting the AMD FreeSync 2 technology for frame rate control. The monitors have support for 95% of DCI-P3 and have also been validated as supporting NVidia’s HDR gaming technology.
The CHG90 has a 32:9 aspect ratio (Samsung Proposing Dual Width Panels) and 3840 x 1080 resolution on a 49″ diagonal. The curvature is 1,800R and the monitor can support 144Hz and is claimed to have a 1ms MPRT, although it also has a VA panel.
The CHG70 is available in 27″ and 31.5″ versions and has 2560 x 1440 resolution and support for 144Hz operation while boosting output brightness to 600 cd/m². Again, the curved VA panels have an MPRT of 1ms.
Other common features are DisplayPort and dual HDMI inputs (the CHG90 also has a mini-DisplayPort and USB hubs. They all have height adjustable stands.
The CHG90 lists at $1,499, while the CHG70 costs $699 for the 32″ model and $599 for the 27″.
Analyst Comment
The 32:9 aspect panel may just be the top half of a TV display.
