I have mentioned before that it seemed to me that with the potential move of QDs to the filter space, the idea of using QDs to convert the LG OLED from white + filter to blue OLED + QDs, That would be a lot more efficient and boost brightness. It would simplify the stack used to create white (it currently has four colours – red, yellow green and two blues) and should double the light output. It would make a work-around (or bodge as it would be known in the UK) start to look like an elegant way of avoiding the problems with patterning the OLED. However, you need a good blue, and that, of course, is where the blue material from Kyulux would have an impact. We’ll have more on this deal in our SID report. (BR)
