VR camera maker Orah (founded in 2012 under the name VideoStitch) used NAB to announce its new multi-camera live VR function. Professionals can now live stream events from different perspectives using multiple Orah 4i cameras and easily switch between them. Additional upgrades include live horizon leveling, which live streaming with the camera from any positioning, even while moving around, and still have a guaranteed smooth and stable image. Also new is HDMI output and ambisonic sound.
In its booth, it demonstrated the camera system capturing and displaying equi-rectangular 360º content on a monitor in real time. The camera outputs in an SDI format to a processor box that does the live stitching for output to a monitor. The Orah 4i camera consists of 4 cameras each outputting 1080p content. The final stitched version is 4K. The live stream package includes the camera and processor box for $3,600.
Just prior to NAB, Greenfish, the Philadelphia Phillies and Major League Baseball presented the first of its kind 360º Orah 4i multi camera live-stream for the Phillies home-opener at Citizens Bank Park. Using three Orah 4i cameras placed around the stadium and additionally incorporating graphics, picture in picture, and commentator audio, Phillies fans were offered the pre-game ceremonies from the walk-in and introduction of the players till the first pitch. – CC
