The recently opened Odeon Sambil Dolby Atmos multiplex in Madrid is now equipped with the latest screen and display technology in its twelve cinemas. Christie signed the deal with the owners last summer (Christie’s Lasers Create Spain’s ‘Most Advanced Multiplex’)
The multiplex has all of its screens equipped with Christie 4K projectors, Dolby Atmos and Christie Vive Audio sound. The two largest cinemas have 18-metre screens, and each of the projectors use eight laser modules to generate 40,000 lumens of white light. Both cinemas use the Christie Solaria CP42LH RGB projectors, both also equipped with enhanced wavelength diversity technology which reduces the impact of speckle and is said to offer ‘spectacular’ viewing on silver screens.
The other 10 screens range from 10 to 18 metres and have a combination of Christie CP4220 (22,000 lumens) and Christie CP4230 (34,000 lumens) 4K 3DLP cinema projectors.
Other features of the new multiplex are that the 12 theatres are equipped with Harkness Clarus XC 170 silver screens. The screens are 3D-ready so all 12 cinemas can show 3D films. The multiplex uses Get-3D’s passive 3D system.
The lobby has a video wall measuring almost 30 square metres, and is made up of eighteen 75” LCD screens.
