InFocus has been gradually changing its emphasis from the projectors that it was known for, historically, towards the interactive flat panels that it has been developing and that we have reported on for several years. However, sales of projectors still do well, especially portable ‘road warrior’ units, which are selling well in the Nordics, particularly Sweden. The company showed us the 5148HD which was launched at Infocomm, which is going well (InFocus Announces Four New Projector Lines)
The JTouch range is one of three touch display lines and we looked at the INF4030, a 40″ FullHD PCap display that is marketed in the US as a ‘digital easel’ as it can be operated in portrait mode. Also new on the booth was the INF6502WBAG which is a 65″ PCap touch display with a smooth touch anti-glare surface and which was first shown at Infocomm (Infocomm Direct Display Round-up). It has FullHD resolution and 16 point touch. Features include four HDMI inputs and dual 10W audio and the unit has integrated whiteboard functions. Also on display was the 70″ UltraHD product launched last year (InFocus Combines UHD and Capacitive Touch).
InFocus told us that all the activity by Microsoft, Google and Cisco is helping to develop the market and is leaving gaps for others. For example, we heard, Microsoft’s Surface Hub while being an attractive product for enterprises, cannot support Polycom Lifesize systems. That means opportunities for InFocus and others.
