President Obama has incensed Chinese investors by blocking the sale of Aixtron of Germany (Aixtron Waits for Obama), although Reuters reports that the company is looking at whether it could sell its US operation separately, to get around the opposition. The reason for the block is that some of the equipment it makes is used to produce gallium nitride-based semiconductors which are used in weapons systems, including the Patriot missile defence system.
