As a head-up display (HUD) is becoming an available option on most luxury and many midsize cars, Continental is now bringing the HUD to commercial vehicles. They are developing a model that either works with a combiner or on the windshield. In addition, information can be shown either on the bottom or at the top of the windshield. The first prototype has been operating on the Continental Innovation truck for 27,000 kilometers.
The HUD is capable of providing important information to the driver that comes directly from the vehicle’s information system. It can also connect to navigation system and warn the driver of dangerous situations around him.
The press release seems to indicate that the HUD is ready to be incorporated in vehicle designs by OEMs. -NH
