Many Brands Honoured in EISAs

The winners of the 2016-2017 EISA Awards have been announced, ahead of IFA 2016. Most of the major CE brands took a prize. Panasonic’s 65DX900E took Home Theatre TV; LG’s 65″ G6 OLED TV was named to the High-End TV award, and the UH770V to Smart TV; the UE55KS9000 from Samsung took the European TV prize; Philips’s 65PUS7601 was the Best Buy TV; and BenQ’s W2000 was the Home Theatre Projector winner. Panasonic’s DMP-UB900 won the new UltraHD Player prize.

Mobiles were also featured. ‘Budget Smartphone’ went to the Coolpad Torino, ‘Advanced Smartphone’ to the HTC 10 and ‘Consumer Smartphone’ to Huawei’s P9; HTC also won the ‘VR Headset’ award with the HTC Vive. The Garmin Fenix 3 HR won the ‘Wearable Device’ category. Finally, the LG G5 won the ‘Mobile Innovation’ award, and Samsung’s Galaxy S7/S7 Edge won ‘Smartphone Camera’.

Analyst Comment

The EISA awards certainly have an effect, but there is no question that the results are influenced by the need to avoid any single company dominating as the juries are based in businesses that depend on the budgets of the brands. (BR)
