Simulated PS Neo Shows Console’s UHD Merits

Eurogamer has run tests on a simulated Playstation Neo to assess the console’s UltraHD gaming performance. Of course, the console has not launched yet, so Eurogamer used an AMD RX 480 GPU (likely the same as the Neo will run) at clock speeds matching that of the leaked specifications. The site found that, while the Neo will be capable of playing games in UltraHD, it will not be optimal – partly due to the fact that the console will rely on upscaling, rather than natively playing games in UltraHD.

Valve discussed a 2×2-to-4×4 checkerboard upscaling technique at GDC 2016, which Sony also mentions in its Neo documentation
