VR used to Restore Destroyed Museum

Iraq’s Mosul Museum was invaded, and some of its artefacts destroyed, by the terrorist group Isis in 2015. However, the site can now be explored virtually, thanks to Visualise, The Economist and non-profit group Rekrei (formerly Project Mosul). Rekrei crowd-sourced images from people who had visited the museum in the past, as well as archival images; these were used to rebuild the museum in virtual reality. RecoVR: Mosul can now be accessed in YouTube, Facebook and VR apps for Android and iOS.
