When we covered Asus’ presence at Computex last week (Asus is Firmly in Phablets), we missed out on some of the company’s new monitors – none of which have full specifications yet, but are nonetheless interesting.
First is a new 32″ display called the 5k ProArt, which features a DisplayPort 1.3 connection – meaning that 5k content can be transferred over a single cable. The screen is designed for graphic professionals, and covers 100% Rec.709, 99.5% Adobe RGB and 95% DCI-P3. A smaller (27″) monitor, the PA27AQ, was also shown. It has 2560 x 1440 resolution and covers 100% of sRGB.
Both ProArt monitors feature ‘extensive’ calibration options to maintain accurate colours. They can also be hardware calibrated, so colour profiles can be saved on an attached PC.
Another monitor, in the Republic of Gamers range, was the ROG Swift PG258Q. It is a 24.5″ unit and the first (apparently) to support a native 240Hz refresh rate at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Asus has used a TN panel with a 1ms (G2G) response time and built-in Nvidia G-Sync technology. Asus’ GamePlus and GameVisual technology optimise the on-screen image while gaming.
The Designo MX27UC is a 27″ UltraHD display with USB-C connectivity. This port can transport data, power and DisplayPort signals. An IPS panel is built in and the monitor covers 100% sRGB.
Finally, a prototype 27″ UltraHD monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate – another first – was shown. It uses an IPS panel from AUO and a DisplayPort 1.3 connection, to support the high resolution and refresh rate.
