Israeli company Beamr, a specialist in video compression whom we have reported on before, has announced that it is acquiring California-based Vanguard Video. Vanguard is a supplier of H.264 and HEVC codec technologies.
Beamr’s compression algorithm will be integrated into Vanguard’s encoder solutions. The firm says that the result will be high levels of video quality at ‘extremely low’ bit rates.
Beamr has just finished a funding round, in which it raised $15 million.
