The Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA) has announced agreements with the Japan Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment Association (SEAJ) and the International Display Metrology Committee (ICDM) to foster cross-border collaboration.
SEAJ’s membership includes key display equipment manufacturers like TEL and ULVAC. While Korea claims to source 70% of its display equipment locally, essential components such as OLED evaporators and ion implanters continue to be sourced from Japan and the United States. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was formally signed during K-Display 2023.
KDIA also inked an agreement with the International Display Metrology Committee (ICDM). This committee, operating under the SID, spearheads measurement and evaluation standards across the display industry. Through this agreement, KDIA and ICDM are collaborating on support for international display standards development, the exchange of networking opportunities, and sharing information. An ICDM meeting is scheduled to convene in Korea next August, 2024.
