Continental has developed a high-performance computer called Smart Cockpit HPC that is specifically designed for vehicles. The Smart Cockpit HPC enables the integration of various domains and functions, including cluster, infotainment (with an interface to an Android Operating System), and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). By consolidating all these functions into a single unit, the Smart Cockpit HPC reduces the number of control units and complex wiring harnesses in the vehicle architecture, simplifying its design.
The system is designed for the typical configuration of two displays for the center stack and the instrument cluster, but it can be expanded to accommodate up to three displays, such as a head-up display. Although the Smart Cockpit HPC is a preconfigured solution, it still allows for customer-specific adaptations in terms of human-machine interfaces and hardware interfaces.
