Korea’s iNews24 claims that both Samsung and LG will forgo producing UltraHD smartphones in 2016. Instead, they will favour 2560 x 1440 displays, at most. The display divisions of both firms have apparently seen overheating and power efficiency problems in their prototype panels.

Sony’s UltraHD phone only supports the resolution in some modes and has also been criticised for its power consumption and battery life. (BR)
