Argos’ MyTablet, a 7″ model introduced in late 2013 (Display Monitor Vol 20 No 40), has been followed by a larger, updated model. The 2014 edition is a Windows 8.1 with Bing model, which means that customers receive a year’s subscription to Office 365 Personal; 1TB of Onedrive cloud storage; and 60 minutes of Skype calls per month.
Battery life is quoted at up to six hours – one of the tablet’s main compromises. It features an IPS display with 1280 x 800 resolution (higher than the 2013 edition’s 1024 x 768) and a 1.8GHz Intel Baytrail-T quad-core processor. RAM is 1GB, with up to 32GB of storage (expandable via microSD).
The Bush MyTablet is being sold now for £110 ($170), although Argos was offering a promotional launch price of £85 ($130) in December. Prices are ex VAT.
