What They Say
In our Display Week coverage, a couple of items slipped through our net. Innolux had a 3240 x 3240 resolution LCD with 2016 ppi, so with a 2.27″ diagonal. The colour coverage is 85% of NTSC (whatever that means!) and with GtG response time of 5ms. The Innolux display is said to have a ‘sub-pixel rendering design to solve the screen door effect’.
UploadVR managed to get a good video image of the display that is on YouTube here.
JDI also had a panel of the same size (40.8mm x 40.8mm) with 90Hz frame rate.
What We Think
UploadVR spotted that we had missed an earlier announcement from March, that JDI and Innolux have a patent cross-licence agreement and suggests that the agreement might be behind these displays.
It’s intriguing that both displays look, effectively, identical and that suggests to me that the firms are dual sources for the display. Now, the question will be, who will use it? (BR)
