Stanley Kubrick’s sci-fi classic 2001: A Space Odyssey turns 50 this year. To celebrate, Warner Bros has remastered the film in Ultra HD and will release it on UHD Blu-ray in the spring. Originally released in 1968, the film was shot on Super Panavision 70 65mm film. This allowed Warner to significantly increase image quality for its HD Blu-ray release, but should also allow the company to improve it even further for UHD Blu-ray.
Analyst Comment
This is one title that I might well invest in to see if it’s as good as I remember – at least when my FullHD PDP dies and I go UltraHD. I do have the player, for testing, but my beautiful old Panasonic PDP just won’t die… (BR).
