What They Say
MacWorld has got confirmation that the new Apple Studio display should work on Windows PCs, at least as a monitor and with a webcam and speakers. However, a number of the features enabled by the A15 processor, such as Center Stage, Hey Siri, and Spatial Audio, will not work since they require macOS.
What We Think
As MacWorld acknowledged, few Windows buyers are likely to want to buy this monitor as there are alternatives available.
For an article I was writing for the 8K Association, I contacted Apple to try to find out if the Apple Studio PC would support an 8K monitor (as it is widely promoting that it can display 18 8KP30 4:2:2 ProRes streams simultaneously), but as this article was published, I had had no response. I think it unlikely, as the spec is up to four 6K displays. However, some 8K displays have four inputs to appear to the system as four UHD displays and that should run, I think. To support 8K60P directly over the Thunderbolt 4 outputs would need DSC (BR)
