Xiaomi has launched the Mi Box 4S Pro, an 8K Android-based streaming STB in China that is selling for just $60 (Yuan 399). It’s got an upgraded 16GB of storage, HDMI 2.1 support, and Bluetooth voice controls. It uses the MIUI interface.
The 4K Mi Box 4S is available for $50 at Walmart in the US.
What We Think
These streaming solutions are really ridiculously good value. The availability of such devices will help the penetration of 8K, although sets remain relatively expensive, still. I couldn’t track down any data on the codecs supported for 8K. (BR)
