Xiaomi Mi 11 Has a Big Bright Display. Probably.

What They Say

Xiaomi has a new flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi M1 11 which has been released in China, although Lite and Pro versions are not yet announced (the Pro is rumoured for February). The display is an OLED with 120Hz refresh, 6.81″ diagonal and is reported to have a peak brightness of 1,500 cd/m². Resolution is reported to be 1440 x 3200 (20:9/515ppi) The display and the back of the phone are both covered with Corning’s Gorilla glass, with Victus on the front. There are curved areas on the cover glass on all four sides. Touch is supported at 480Hz sampling and there is an under-display fingerprint sensor from Goodix. The main camera is a 108 megapixel unit (like the 10 series) and the APU is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 built using 5nm features.

What We Think

If the peak brightness specifications that have been reported are accurate, this should be a good device to use outside. However, I’d like to see DisplayMate or DXO checking out the phone. At the moment it is only available in China, but is expected to roll out around the world later. Some analysts have pointed out that Xiaomi has brought forward its ‘traditional’ launch timing, possibly to make the most of the problems that Huawei is having. (BR)
