Xiaomi Launches New Streaming Media Player for the US Market

Xiaomi has launched the Mi Box S in the United States, a new streaming media player with Google Assistant and Chromecast features built-in. The box supports UltraHD resolution and HDR10 at 60 frames per second, powered by a quad-core 64-bit processor and an Android 8.1 operating system.

Mi Box S features 8GB of internal storage for apps including ESPN, Google Play, HBO Now, Showtime, Sling TV, Spotify, Starz, Vudu and YouTube. The device’s streaming capabilities also enable users to beam content from a compatible laptop, smartphone or tablet to their TV screen.

Meanwhile, the new Google Assistant-enabled remote control allows users to find content, ask questions and control supported smart home devices with their voice. Gaming controllers, headphones and speakers can also be connected wirelessly via the box’s Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity.

The Mi Box S will start shipping in the United States from October 19th, priced at $60. Thus far, Xiaomi has made no mention of a wider global launch for the device.
