What They Say
Somehow the latest release of a new smartphone series from Xiaimi crept up on us! We reported on Ray Soneira’s test (DisplayMate Tests More Xiaomi Smartphones) and we then spotted that the camera in the Mi 11 Ultra had become the top ranked smartphone camera at DXOMark. We then spotted that the unit has a small OLED display in the ‘camera bump’.
Ray liked the 6.81″ AMOLED main display, based on a Samsung flexible display. The display goes up to 120Hz, but doesn’t support VRR. The camera goes up to 50MP and also has a 128° wide angle camera and a 120X optical telephoto camera with 50MP using a 1/1.12″ sensor (again from Samsung). The battery has a 5,000mAh capacity.
A really unusual feature is a 1.1″ rear 126 x 294 OLED that is ‘always-on’ and can be used to allow the rear cameras to be used for selfies, but also shows notifications and reminders.
The Mi Mix Fold has an 8.1″ infolding device that folds to show a 6.52″ external display and supports 90Hz refresh and HDR10+. The price in China is RMB 10,000 ($1,525). The camera features a ‘Liquid Lens’ for the 108MP sensor camera.
An 11 Lite and 11 Lite 5G models were also announced. The 5G model has Gorilla Glass 6.
What We Think
Another display is always to be welcomed 🙂 (BR)
